What is IELTS?
IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is a globally recognized English proficiency exam, trusted by universities, employers, and immigration authorities. IELTS Test Format
The IELTS exam evaluates English proficiency across four key areas: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. Each section is graded on a 0–9 band scale, and the average of these scores forms your Overall Band Score.
Score Requirements:
Undergraduate Admissions: Minimum overall band score of 6.0 in each section.
Postgraduate Admissions: Minimum overall band score of 6.5 or higher.

IELTS Test Duration & Validity
The IELTS test evaluates English proficiency across four key skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. The test is conducted over two and a half hours, with the Speaking test scheduled separately, either on the same day or within seven days before or after the other sections. IELTS scores are valid for two years from the test date, and candidates must retake the exam if their scores expire before the application deadline.
Test Format:
- Listening: 4 recordings, 40 questions, 30 minutes
- Reading: 3 passages, 40 questions, 60 minutes
- Writing: 2 tasks, 60 minutes (essay and data interpretation)
- Speaking: One-on-one interview, 11–14 minutes
